State Government will soon fill 414 Assistant Professors posts in various Degree Colleges of J&K and Notification regarding the same will be published soon by JKPSC.

In a meeting called by Commissioner / Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department with Principals of All Degree colleges of State on 22nd May 2017, it was decided that for rationalization of 414 additional vacancies of Assistant Professors, will be referred to JKPSC for selection against these posts.

It is worth mentioning here that these posts are being filled for full filling the Faculty Requirements, Reducing the Workload of GDC's and public demand for various Subjects / Disciplines offered by HED in Different Colleges. Earlier, the Department had decided to refer 447 vacancies to PSC, however, after a review meeting it was decided to refer 414 vacancies

When the JKPSC Assistant Professor vacancy is announced?

There is No fixed timeline as and when the vacancies will be announced. It might take 2-3 months before PSC announces the Official Notification. 

Secretary JKPSC Shakeel-Ur-Rehman said they have not received any communication from Higher Education Department, regarding the forwarding of vacancies to JKPSC, but there are reports, that vacancies will be forwarded soon.

Ever after forwarding the vacancies to JKPSC, we cannot confirm how much time, these Lazy Recruitment agencies will take to announced the posts. 

Recent Example is of this Laziness is JKSSB, where School Education Department, has referred 3450 posts in the month of February to JKSSB and even after 3 months there is No announcement of Notification. For more details, you can read this post on JKSSB Teacher Recruitment 2017.

What is the Eligibility Criteria to Apply for these Posts?

Applicants willing to apply for these Assistant Professor posts in Degree College of J&K must note that JKPSC assures, that Recruitment for these posts will be done as per the UGC Guidelines

On being asked, whether there will be any Change in the Selection process, Secretary, JKPSC said, that PSC has amended the Rules for the Recruitment of Assistant Professors in Higher Education Department and Health & Medical Education Departments, these new rules will be notified soon. 

PSC clears that there will be No Entrance test for these posts

 As far as Eligibility criteria are concerned it is expected, there won't be any changes in that too, which will be same as we have in Previous JKPSC AP Recruitment.

1) Age Limit: Applicants must have attained the Age of 18 years and maximum age should not exceed 37 years. However, there is relaxation in upper age for candidates belonging to Reserved Categories as per the criteria are given below

• For In-Service:48 years
• For SC/ST/OBC/RBA/ALC: 40 years
• For Ex-serviceman: 48 years
• For Physically Challenged: 39 years

2) Educational Qualifications: Applicant must be a Post Graduate in the concerned subject having obtained minimum of 55% marks. Along with this applicant should have passed NET/SET/SLET OR P. Hd in the concerned subject.


Selection Process: The Selection process for the Recruitment of Assistant Professors comprises of the Only Interview. All those candidates, who full fill the eligibility conditions will have to appear for the Interview, based on which Final selections shall be made.

Candidates having both NET, ExpereinceP HD and Experience shall have fair chance of being selected

Applications are to be submitted through online mode only by logging on to the JKPSC Official Website. But, you can apply only when the JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2017 gets announced.
