J&K ReT Syllabus for Screening test isued after Govt orders test for RET's

If you are a Rebhar-e-Taleem Teacher and obtained degrees from distance mode, then there is a bad news for you, the Jammu and Kashmir State Government had announced the Screening test for all those who have obtained Degrees from distance mode or from little known learning centers. It looks Government is in full mode to conduct the Screening test and even the RET Screening test syllabus has been announced.

The decision to conduct the Screening test for R-e-T's is given on the orders of  Honorable J&K High court. It is worth mentioinh here that this year in May, an R-e-T teacher was unable to write an essay on cow and failed to solve Maths Question of 4th Standard in the Jam packed Court room.

After the miserable performance of ReT Teacher in the on spot test , the Honorable Judge,  said that "One does not know how many candidates with such degrees are appointed as teachers and further ordered the Education department to direct police to register case against the R-e-T teacher and institute that issued the degree

Now, after the direction of State High Court, the Government had decided to conduct the Screening test for ReT's and prescribed the syllabus for same. Although the dates are yet to be announced and it is expected that concerned CEO's will conduct the test of ReT's

In this post, we will discuss in details, the Syllabus for RET Screening test, so that you will get to know, What and How to prepare for RET Screening test.

It is worth mentioning here that even those who have applied for fresh engagement as RET teachers will also have to undergo the Screening test. Applicants must mote that those who fail in the Screening test will be terminated from their services. So, this Screening test has a stake on your Job.


J&K RET Syllabus for Screening test



The Govt had laid down the criteria, for qualifying the Written test and the Criteria is given as under



  • For General Category is : 60% ( 90 Marks Out of 150)
  • For Reserved Categories : 55%  (82.5 Marks Out of 150)


Exam Pattern: The RET Screening test will be both Objective as well as Descriptive in nature. Here is the pattern of Screen test.

Objective Paper : The Question paper comprises of 120 Objective Questions from General Awareness, Teaching Aptitude, English / Hindi Or Urdu / Science / Social Studies.

Here is the Subject wise break-up of Marks for Screening test

  • Teaching Aptitude : 15 Questions (15 Marks)
  • General Awareness: 15 Questions (15 Marks)
  • English : 15 Questions (15 Marks)
  • Hindi /Urdu: 15 Questions (15 Marks)
  • Maths: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • Science: 20 Questions (20 Marks)
  • Social Studies : 20 Questions (20 Marks)
Note: The Subject Specific Syllabus for Maths, Science and Social Studies will be of 1st to 8th standard (I to VIII).


Descriptive Paper : To test to writing ability of candidates, there will be descriptive paper only for Language Subjects viz English and Hindi Or Urdu. The Descriptive test will be of 30 marks with 15 marks for English and 15 marks for Hindi Or Urdu.

Here is the type of Questions Prescribed as syllabus for Descriptive paper

1) An Unseen passage with Questions on comprehension
2) Questions on Grammar, Vocabulary and Language etc
3) An Essay type Question on given topics (Minimum 150 words) to check the candidates writing ability.

Syllabus for General Awareness Section: Questions on current affairs including sports, history, culture, geography, polity etc, that a teacher is expected to know, up to a level that he/she is able to answer queries of their students.
