(I) Current Affairs of J&K 2020 

1) Chenab Bridge: World's Highest Rail Bridge to connect Kashmir, with Rest of India by 2021. Konkan railway is the implementing agency for this project.The bridge forms a crucial link in the 111-km stretch between Katra and Banihal, which is part of the Udhampur- Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project.

2) Z-Morh TunnelGovt allocates Rs 2379 crore for completing Z Morh tunnel in J&K. The Tunnel gets its name for its Z-Shaped formation between Sonamarg and Gagangir of J&K.

3) J&K Administration renamed PHE & IFC Department as Jal Shakti Deptt.

On 6th Feb, 2020, Administration of Jammu and Kashmir, has renamed PHE & IFC as Jal Shakti Department.

4) Govt of India, sanctioned 9 Medical Colleges and 2 AIIMS for J&K

On 14th Feb 2020, Dr Jatinder Singh mentioned that Govt. of India has allocated 2 AIIMS (One in Jammu and One in Kashmir) and Nine-Medical colleges in J&K.

5) Chenani-Nashri Tunnel is renamed as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel. It is a 9.2 Km Tunnel Inaugurated by PM Modi in 2017.

7) Inaugural National Winter Games 2020 held in Ladakh and Gulmarg

1st Khelo India Winter Games inaugurated by Shri Kiran Rijiju in Leh, Ladakh and Gulmarg on 25th Feb 2020.

8) Center constitutes Delimitation Commission for J&K, Assam, Manipur and Arunachal

On 6th March 2020, Central Govt of India has set up the Delimitation Commission, headed by former Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Desia

9) Student Health Card Scheme for School Children Launched in J&K 

On 5th Mach, 2020, J&K's Lt.Governor G C Murmu launched a Student health Card Scheme for School children aimed to improve the health and Overall wellbeing of over 12 lakh students of Government Schools. 

10) Leh to Host International Yoga Day event on 21st June, 2020

The Sixth International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June, 2020 at Leh.

i) Jamola Lower (Rajouri) got Child Friendly Gram Panchayat Award 2020

ii) Dhangri (Rajouri) got Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gourav Gram Sabha Puraskar 2020

iii) Zaloora B ( Baramulla) for Gram Panchayat Development Plans

Panchayat Awards are instituted by Ministry of Panchayati Raj, it honours the best performing panchayats recommended by State /UT's. These awards are given on the National Panchayati Raj Day ie 24th April.

12) Kashmir Saffron Gets GI Tag

The Kashmir saffron cultivated and harvested in the Karewa highlands of Jammu and Kashmir gets Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the geographical indications registry.

13) Jal Jeevan Mission: J&K to provide tap water to every household by 2022.

Jal Jeevan Mission is a central government initiative with the aim to provide drinking water to every rural household.

14) Ladakh inagurates the Ist Solar Lift Irrigation Plant of Kargil

On 27th May, 2020, Ladakh's director of Animal, sheep husbandary and Fisheries inaguarted the First Solar Lift Irrigation Plant of Kargil with 5 KW Solar plant and 3 Horsepower Submersible Pump 

!-- adsense --> 15) Three Photo Jounalists from Jammu and Kashmir won the 2020 Pulitzer Prizes in Feature photography.

The Three Indian Photo Journalists namely Dar Jasin, Mukhtar Khan and Channi Annand from Jammu and Kashmir, who work for Associated Press have won the 2020 Pulitzer prize in feature photography. The award recognized thair exceptional coverage of Jammu and Kashmir during the lockdown that was imposed following the revocation of Article 370 and 35A.

16) Dr Jitender Singh inaugurates "Puneja Bridge" and "Devika Bridge" in J&K

On 24th June 2020, Dr Jitender Singh e-inaugurated "Puneja" bridge in Doda district and "Devika Bridge" in Udhampur district.

17) Six District Hospitals of J&K wins Kayakalp Award for their achievement in the Health sector.

On 24th June, Six District Hospitals of UT of Jammu and Kashmir won the Kayakalp award for their achievements in Health Sector, and secured positions in Best Hospital category 2019-20.

18) Rajnath Singh E-Inaugurated Six Strategic Bridges in J&K

On 9th July, 2020, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated Six Strategic bridges in the border areas close to International Border and Line of Control in J&K. These were built in a record time by the Project Sampark of BRO. Here is the List of Bridges

19) Anji Khad Bridge: India's First cable-stayed rail bridge by Indian railways to connect Katra and Reasi in J&K
 
The Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal has announced, that India's First Cable-stayed Indian Railways bridge namely "Anji Khad " bridge being developed by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited is all set to connect katra and Reasi in J&K and crosses Chenab river. 

20) Manoj Sinha appointed as Lt. Governor of J&K

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, appointed Manoj Sinha as Lt. Governor of J&K. He succeeds Girish Chander Murmu the First Lt.Governor of J&K, who resigned on 5th August 2020

21) Former J&K Lt. Governor appointed as 14th CAG, replaces Rajiv Mehrishi

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, has appointed G C Murmu, as 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India. He succeeds Rajiv Mehrishi, who completes his term on 8th August, 2020
