Today, Chairman, Divisional Level Recruitment Committee, Office of the Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Government of J&K, has announced the Recruitment Notification for the hiring of Class IVth staff for Jammu and Kashmir Division.

Applicants should note that this Recruitment Notification is Division specific, and therefore, applicants can apply for posts reserved for their respective Division only. In this particular Notification, 73% of Posts are for Kashmir Division and 27% Posts are for Jammu Division, while there is No vacancy for Ladakh Region.


J&K Legal Metrology Department: A Brief Introduction

Legal Metrology Department, previously known as Weights and Measure Department, came into existence in 1961. The major objective for setting up of Legal Metrology Department is to adopt the Metric system in the Trade and Commerce, as per the Metric policy adopted at the National Level.

In 2005, nomenclature of Weights and Measure Department is changed to Legal Metrology Department and In 2003 the Department came under the, Civil, Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.



J&K Legal Metrology Department Recruitment 2017: Vacancy Details


Office of the Controller, J&K, Legal Metrology Department, invites applications from the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir for the below mentioned various posts.

1) Post: Class IVth

2) No. of Vacancies: 19 Posts


  • Jammu Division: 05 Posts
  • Kashmir Division: 14 Posts

3) Pay-Scale: Rs 4440- Rs 7440 (Grade Pay: Rs 1300).



Who can Apply?


Applicants willing to apply for Class IVth Posts in the Legal Metrology Department, must full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions

1) Domicile: Applicant should be a Citizen of J&K, and must apply for the posts for their respective divisions only.

2) Age Limit: Applicants must have attained the age of 18 years and maximum age should not exceed 40 years . However, there is Relaxation in Upper Age Limit as per the criteria are given below


  • SC/ST/RBA:43 years
  • Physically Challenged: 42 years
  • Ex-Serviceman: 48 years
  • In-Service: 40 years
3) Educational Qualifications: Minimum qualification is Matric, while the maximum Qualification is 10+2. Applicants should note that there is No Weightage for Higher qualification.

Selection Process: The Selection Process for the Recruitment of Class IVth Posts, comprises of Academic Merit and Interview only.
